Meditation: Mindfulness or Arduous task?
MEDITATION: FRESHNESS OR
DEPRESSION???
Isn’t the heading too attractive for you all to read? Yes it’s attractive and true that meditation is the feeling of newness but also true that meditation may lead you to ‘DEPRESSION’ if it is not about your own interest.
If you think you are struggling and would like to understand the process and, free your-self from distractions, here is the way!
So, let’s begin……
What Science Says About Safety and Side Effects of Meditation.
- Meditation is generally considered to be safe for healthy people.
- People with physical limitations may not be able to participate in certain meditative practices involving movement. People with physical health conditions should speak with their health care providers before starting a meditative practice, and make their meditation instructor aware of their condition.
- There have been rare reports that meditation could cause or worsen symptoms in people with certain psychiatric problems like anxiety and depression. People with existing mental health conditions should speak with their health care providers before starting a meditative practice, and make their meditation instructor aware of their condition.
Whereas, when we are distress there’s no better feeling than to listen to some music and settle down in the corner to meditate, but do these things really relieve us or make it worse?
According to the report,
people who try to meditate experience unwanted negative effects, usually in
depression or anxiety for the first time. Meditation are of various kinds, but one which
is comparatively well is ‘mindfulness’. Mindfulness mainly includes focusing on
the present moments, the thoughts and feelings you have at the movement.
According to the study held in 2017, in Brown University and the University of
California found that half of the participants experience irrational, or paranormal
thoughts caused by meditation. Enthusiasm for meditation may stem from a
growing awareness of the side effects of anti-depression medicines and the
difficulties some people report when they stop taking them.
There have been some reports
of people experiencing worse mental health after starting meditation, but it is
unclear how often this happens. Therefore, you shouldn’t give up on the idea of
meditation.
Rather trying to meditate on your own, go for a guided meditation which is much safer. There are various online sessions available and meditation apps to help you with the same.
