Spike of COVID-19—This Diwali(2020).

This Diwali Say No To Crackers And Avoid Spike In COVID-19 Cases.

Health Experts has warned people that air pollutants from busting crackers would aggravate allergies, and increased the risk of coronavirus transmission. Doctors also advise people to wear N-95 mask when going out during Diwali.

This Diwali say to fire crackers or any from of burning waste specially the dry leaves, for bonfire as they trigger a serious health concern amidst the COVID-19 pandemic which is still active. Carbon particles from fumes and chemical vapours from the crackers, may aggrevate the existing condition and vapour particles stick to nostrils for a longer period of time and tigger asthma.  All these are bound to affect the lungs and it is certain that we can expect spike in COVID-19 cases an increase in mortality during and after Diwali.

As we know that Air pollution has now been shown to have a serious impact on COVID-19 infection. People exposed to higher levels of are pollutants are found  to be higher risk of COVID-19 infection and/or death. A study conducted in September 2020, mainly monitored Nitrous Oxide(NO) and Nitrous Dioxide(NO2) concentrations, and concluded that death in COVID-19 is associated with increase levels of both NO and NO2 levels.  Another study on October 27.2020 concluded that long term exposure to air pollution may linked to 15 percent of COVID-19 deaths globally.

Air pollution effects our heart, lungs and blood vessels. Smoke in the air from crackers will increase transmission of COVID-19 this Diwali!!! These air pollutants stimulate the ACE-2 receptors on respiratory and nasal cells, thus increasing permeability to SARS-CPV-2 virus to easily enter these cells and establish infection in the nose, throat and lungs. An estimate of 30-40% additional new cases will be arise in cities and towns.

"Say No to Fire Crackers this Diwali and with air pollution, the situation will be more challenging".

It is also been observed that many of us are now started stepping out of our houses and are spotted at places all over, without following the basic social distancing and even wearing face mask. COVID-19 will continue to be here, and we need to live with it, cities have observed that congregation are characterized by the lack of masks, breakdown of physical distancing, and poor hand sanitation and leading to first whammy; increased COVID-19 transmission, and this will be followed by second whammy, namely, the winter temperatures,  we should maintain social distancing, cleaning hands with sanitizers and face mask, will continue to be our weapon to fight covid-19.

let each one of us take a pledge THIS DIWALI "SAY NO TO CRACKERS" and invest in a safer and  greener future.
